The European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) is an academic research institute located on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). Its mission is to provide freely available data and bioinformatics services to all facets of the scientific community in ways that promote scientific progress; to contribute to the advancement of biology through basic investigator- driven research in bioinformatics; to provide advanced bioinformatics training to scientists at all levels, from PhD students to independent investigators and to help disseminate cutting- edge technologies to industry. It has had a leading role in the establishment of ELIXIR and is the coordinator of the BioMedBridges project. The EBI has contributed to numerous standardization projects on data and the minimum information standards and is currently expanding its portfolio of databases into the area of metabolomics and chemistry.

The EBI will coordinate this project and contribute to all of the work packages and management WP1
