Main goal of this collaboration is to port the XEML framework for the generation of machine readable metadata for biological experiments from Microsoft Windows™ towards other operating system as well. In detail, while the current XEML Interactive Designer makes extensively use of the mostly Windows targeted .Net framework, it is the idea to port those software parts to Qt™ (http://qt-project.org/) code and use the mono project (http://www.mono-project.com/) as .Net compatible runtime environment. The software development process includes integration of new ontologies into XEML and interfaces for the MetaboLights web site using the ISA-Tabs standard and shall be tested and extended where necessary.
